Basic Badge - Template Design

EdgeReg comes with a few default badge templates, but most clients prefer to create custom badge templates with information specific to their events. The decision on what size badge you use and what you include on your badge can be based on a number of factors, including the event graphics, networking information you would like to share (such as name, company name, city, state), identifying information such as member status or access level (Full Conference vs Exhibit Hall Only) and the need for a QR code that can be used for session check-in and lead retrieval. The more information you need to display, the larger your badge will need to be.

How to create a badge:

  • From the Control Center for any event, click Basic Badges.
  • Click "Basic Badge Templates" at the top right right of the page.
  • Click "Add new badge" button at the top right of the page.
  • Give the badge a name.
  • Select the badge size you want.

NOTE

EdgeReg has many different sizes of label types available for selection with Basic Badges. A 4" x 3" badge will be used as an example below.

From the left menu, select the fields of data that you want included on your badge and drag them to the badge area. Learn more on the fields of data available.  As you place them, you will see a box around the field to help indicate the area that the badge information will display within. Click and drag the bottom left corner of the box to change the size of the display area.

CADMIUM RECOMMENDS

Hold down shift while adjusting the image size to maintain aspect ratio.

It is advised that you make the width of the box smaller than the width of the badge to allow for some margins on the badge itself.

NOTE

The height of the field does not matter when displaying text fields. The positioning of the fields is fixed, meaning that the data fields you place below will not be impacted by the size of the information above. Positioning and testing are necessary to ensure that data on your badges does not overlap. Based on the way in which the tools display things, the data may seem to overlap in the badge editor, but displays correctly in testing.
