Once you have created a Basic badge template, you will want to test it to ensure that the layout works for your registration data. Here are some steps and troubleshooting tips on testing your Basic badges.
You can use the "Pre-Print Basic Badges" to run a set or all of your badges and review the layout looks correct. Select the "Show badge outlines" checkbox to help visualize where the perforations on the stock will be in relation to your badge. Select the "Preview Only" Print Mode, which will add a Preview watermark and will not log your badges as printed on the Printed Badges report.
Make sure to print at full size
The Basic badges are designed to render at 8 1/2" x 11" for most of the Label Types. However, since most printers cannot print all the way to the borders of the paper, PDF readers such as Adobe slightly reduce the size of the PDF so that everything will fit. This can cause alignment issues. Be sure to check the PDF settings and adjust the scale to "Actual Size", "Full Size","Fit to paper" etc. The setting will depend on the PDF reader you are using.
Check badges with long fields of data
If you are printing a field of data that can vary greatly in length between registrants, such as name or company, it is good to test records with both long and short results to ensure that the badges will display correctly for everyone. You will need to adjust the position of the field of data, the font size and the settings of word wrap (which is the default) or autosize to ensure all badges will display correctly.
