The Zebra ZD621 direct thermal printer will need to be set up with power, internet access and badge stock. To set up the on-demand badge printer, follow the steps below:
Power on the Printer
- Connect the printer to a power source and to the internet with an ethernet connection or with an optional Wi-Fi module.
NOTE
The printer and iPad or tablet must be on the same local network to communicate and be successfully configured.
- Reset the printer to factory default before proceeding by holding down the “pause” and “feed” buttons on the top of printer (the 1st and 2nd buttons) while the printer is being powered on.
Load the Badge Stock
- Load the badge stock according to the printer manufacturer or badge stock supplier instructions.
Calibrate the Printer
- Calibrate the printer by pressing and holding down the “pause” and “cancel” buttons on the top of printer (the 1st and 3rd buttons).
Edit the Printer Settings
- Confirm that the Zebra printer settings, specifically darkness and print mode, are set to your specific badge printing needs.
NOTE
The steps above will work for all versions of the ZD621 printer, however models with touchscreens may allow for alternate methods to complete these steps. Consult Zebra documentation or work with your rental company if you have any questions on the functionality of your specific device.
