The Copyright/Permissions task allows Admin users to customize and activate a task that ensures submitters agree to necessary copyright and permissions terms. It involves setting up the task's title, instructions, agreement statements, and signature requirements, as well as determining how the task will appear and function on the submitter's Scorecard. Admins can also manage settings for multi-author submissions and activate the task for specific submission types.
The following instructions will guide you through editing and activating a Copyright/Permissions task after it has been added from the Task Index. For information about how to add a task, please refer to the Add a New Task help tip.
To edit a Copyright/Permissions task, follow these instructions:

- Update the Task Title to the task name you want the submitter to see on the live Scorecard.
- Choose which Submission Types this task should be filtered to.

You may choose to edit additional fields within the task settings. The gray text next to each setting provides guidance on where each field or text will appear on the Scorecard.
NOTE
Not all settings listed in this article may be applicable to your Scorecard.
Task Summary and Instructions
The Task Summary provides a brief overview of the task that will appear on the submitter's task list. In the Primary Instructions field, you can write detailed instructions for the task that submitters will see.

Update the Agreement Statement
This is the text that the submitter will agree to, which will appear in dark blue font on the live Scorecard by default. The text is HTML-coded, so HTML formatting tags must be used for paragraph breaks, bullets, numbering, bold or italicized text, and other formatting.

Update the Agreement/Disagreement Statement(s)
This is the text displayed next to the checkbox where submitters will indicate their agreement or disagreement. Including a Disagreement Statement is optional and not required to save the task.

Update the Force Signature Setting
If the electronic signature must exactly match the Submitter/Author's name, set this option to "Yes."

Update the Force Agreement
If the Submitter/Author must select a checkbox to complete the Copyright/Permissions task, set this option to "Yes."

Turn on Multi-Author Completion
If you want all Authors on the submission to complete the agreement, set this option to "Yes."

If the submitter should only be able to complete their own agreement, set this option to "Yes." This will prevent them from completing the forms for other authors on the submission.

- Activate the Task by changing the the status from Inactive to Active using the status drop-down menu.
- Then, update the Task Order to determine the position of the task on the submitter’s task list.
- Select Update Task in the upper right corner of the page to save your changes. If any required fields are missing, a warning message will appear at the top of your screen.

NOTE
If you have created a Copyright/Permissions task for specific Submission Types and want to reuse the same task for a different Submission Type with minimal edits, please refer to the Duplicating and Filtering Tasks article for instructions.
Once the Copyright/Permissions task(s) have been added, edited, and filtered, test your Submission Site by logging in as a user on the Scorecard.
