Informational vs. Promotional Emails
All emails created in the Emarketing Message Library must be labeled as either:
- Informational (meaning that the information being sent is specific to the event - IE, payment reminders, know-before-you-go, etc)
- Promotional (more for marketing/advertising of things unrelated to the event)
Email Campaign Categories
As an added feature, you can create Email Campaign Categories, accessible via “Email Campaign Categories” at the bottom of the Home page Admin section (only available to Firm Admin level users). All categories will be considered promotional email categories.
Managing Subscriptions
Email recipients wishing to opt-out can specify which categories they would like to be a part of. (Fig. 1) Previously, anyone marked as opted out for a firm would not receive any e-marketing emails from that firm account, even for informational emails related to events they were registered for. Now, people who were previously marked as opted out will get these event-specific informational blasts, since they have a business use.
Access to the email opt-out will be available at the bottom of every email by clicking “Unsubscribe/Change Preferences.”
Email Recipients
Informational emails will be sent to all participants.
Promotional emails will be sent to all participants who are not exempt based on one of the following reasons:
- Did not consent to the first default consent question displaying in Basic and Full - GDPR Toolkit Privacy Modes (“Share my contact information with…”)
- Opted out from all promotional emails
- Opted out from the email campaign category selected for the email
If any of the above is true, the participant will not receive the email.
Emarketing blasts include a “# Not Sent” report listing email addresses that a message was not sent to and the reason why (preferences, opt-out settings, etc.).
