Scheduling lets you build an email campaign now and have it send automatically at a future date and time. Instead of waiting to click send at the right moment, you set the send time once and move on. This article explains how to schedule a campaign, what a scheduled campaign looks like, and how to change or cancel one before it sends.
Before you schedule
You can schedule any campaign that is still a draft. Before the Send or Schedule button becomes available, the draft needs a few things in place:
- A From Name and From Email.
- A Subject.
- Message content.
- At least one recipient.
Once those are complete, you’re ready to schedule.
IMPORTANT NOTE
Scheduled sends use your event’s time zone, not your computer’s. The scheduling window reminds you: “Send time is based on the event’s timezone. Confirm your event timezone in event settings before scheduling.” Check that your event time zone is correct in event settings before you set a send time.
How to schedule a campaign
- Open the draft campaign you want to schedule.
- Select Send or Schedule.
- In the Send or Schedule Campaign window, choose Schedule, then select Schedule again to continue. (The other option, Send Now, sends the campaign immediately.)
- Under When should we send?, choose the send date. Past dates aren’t available.
- Under What time should we send it?, enter the send time, such as 4:15 PM. You can pick one of the suggested times or type your own.
- Select Schedule.
A confirmation message, “Campaign Scheduled for sending,” lets you know it worked, and you return to the campaigns home page.
What a scheduled campaign looks like
On the campaigns home page, select the Scheduled tab to see every campaign waiting to send. Each scheduled campaign shows a clock icon, the Scheduled label, and its send date and time.
Changing or canceling a scheduled campaign
Because a scheduled campaign is read-only, you can’t edit it or move its send time directly. To make any change, first return it to a draft. From the campaigns home page, select the actions menu (the three-dot ⋮ icon) at the end of the campaign’s row to choose what to do:
| Action | What it does |
|---|---|
| Revert to Draft | Cancels the scheduled send and returns the campaign to a draft, so you can edit it or schedule it for a new time. |
| Duplicate | Creates an editable copy of the campaign that you can send or schedule on its own. |
| Delete | Permanently removes the campaign. This action cannot be undone. |
When you choose Revert to Draft, a window asks you to confirm and reminds you when the campaign was scheduled to send. Select Revert to Draft to confirm. The campaign becomes an editable draft again, and the scheduled send is canceled.
To reschedule a campaign
There’s no in-place reschedule. To move a campaign to a different date or time:
- Revert the campaign to a draft.
- Make any edits you need.
- Select Send or Schedule and set the new date and time.
NOTE
A scheduled campaign doesn’t have analytics until it sends. Once the send time passes and the campaign goes out, its performance appears on the Campaign Analytics page.
Good to know
- You can schedule a campaign for any future date and time, as far ahead as you need. The send time must be at least one minute in the future.
- If someone else is editing the same campaign when you try to schedule it, the schedule may not go through. You’ll see a message asking you to try again.
