Chatting with Other Attendees at your Event

The chat feature is available to a limited number of accounts. If it has been enabled for your account, you will be contacted by your Project Manager with more information.

Use the in-app chat feature to stay connected and engage with other attendees throughout the event!  With this feature, you can send and receive messages with other users who have opted to share their profiles in the event app.

Cadmium has created an attendee guide which explains how to enable and use the Chat feature. The attendee guide can be edited to include your logo and the name and phone number of the primary technical support person at your event. 

NOTE

Some events may not offer the ability for in-app chats.

How to Enable the Chat Feature and Be Discoverable

To participate in chat, attendees must share their profile.  By default, attendees will not have their profile shared until they choose to do so.

WARNING NOTE

It may take up to 30 minutes to be discoverable to chat.

Sharing a profile can be accomplished in two ways:

User Networking Settings During Login

After successfully logging in to the event app, attendees will be prompted to complete their profile:
  1. Complete the first screen with basic profile information.
  2. Proceed to the next screen to update User Networking Preferences.
  3. Locate the "Share your profile with attendees" toggle this to "Yes".
  4. After completing their profile and networking preferences, the attendee will appear in the Attendee List and be discoverable to send and receive messages.

Account Management Setting in the App Settings

  1. Tap the hamburger menu in the top right corner.
  2. Select the gear icon to access the App Settings.
  3. Scroll down to Account Management and find "Share your profile?" and toggle this on (green).
  4. After toggling this on, the attendee will appear in the Attendee List and be discoverable to send and receive messages.

Using the Chat Feature

To access the chat list:

  1. On any screen in the app, tap the speech bubble.
  2. All ongoing chats will appear in the chat list in the order they are received.
  3. Tap on any chat in the list to open and resume messaging with attendee.

Creating a Chat

To start a new chat:

  1. Tap the speech bubble to open the chat feature.
  2. Select the pencil icon in the top right.
  3. Search for the attendee you want to message by typing their name in the search bar.
  4. Tap their name to open a chat.
  5. Type your message and press the blue arrow to send.

Deleting a Chat

To delete a chat from your chat list:

  1. Swipe left on the chat.
  2. Tap the trash can icon.
  3. The chat will be deleted from your chat list.

WARNING NOTE

Deleting a chat will permanently remove it from your chat list, but it will not delete the conversation for the other attendee.

Enabling your profile allows for seamless communication and networking throughout the event.  If you wish to update your preferences, you can modify your settings at any time.

WARNING NOTE

Messages do not sync between the mobile app and website.
